Next year, 2008, Coverit celebrate 50 years of canopy manufacturing. The following press release gives some history of the original makers of canopies for our Normans.

Coverit Celebrates 50 years

Coverit – Marine Trimmers manufacturers bespoke canal boat covers is celebrating 50 years of servicing the marine sector in the UK trade and retail.

Coverit was founded in 1958 by James Smith and was passed on to his son John Smith. John who has just completed 30 years with the Company said “50 years of trading in any business is quite an achievement”.  To celebrate the 50 year birthday of the Company staff and family will be pushing the boat out at a planned party very soon.

Coverit manufacture their waterproof rot proof covers from their premises at 98 Bolton Road Atherton.  They have been located here for the past 25 years. “Another reason for celebrations is the fact that they have just paid their last mortgage installment and now own the premises outright.

Over the years we have built a substantial client base to which we have offered continuous support, advice and have many satisfied customers who have returned to us over the years for replacement covers and repairs.  We supply many boat builders with our covers and have fulfilled the demand of high quality canopies successfully for decades.
